John is currently the Director of Percussion Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss. He is the author of “The Drummer’s Rudimental Reference Book” and several other marching percussion ensemble pieces, street beats, and rudimental snare drum solos.

Rebuilding New Orleans through drumming, the Louisiana Drumline Camp develops leadership & discipline through hands on, fun learning of rudiments, basic reading, stick control and exercises.For all drum students ages 8-18.

All students will receive a camp T-shirt, and The Louisiana drumline camp workbook, There will also be awards, door prizes and giveaways. Students are asked to bring their drum or pad, drumsticks and mallets. To maintain the highest quality of instruction camp enrollment is limited. Early registration is recommended. Lunch and refreshments will be
served.

The LDC staff will be available to help your students explore the most important aspects of fundamental drumming techniques.

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Louisiana Drumline Camp is offering a special session with newly appointed Drum Major Instructor, Mr. Darin Celestin. His Drum Major Program is a tightly designed curriculum that covers the concept of, "We Are One."

The curriculum will also cover:

  • Developing individual styles in conducting and showmanship
  • Developing individual styles in conducting and showmanship
  • leadership and motivational techniques
  • proper baton & marching techniques
  • giving commands
  • the importance of people skills for drum majors
  • code of conduct & discipline
  • how to apply drum major skills to everyday life
